Registration is now open for West Hawaii Dance Theatre & Academy fall semester of classes. The Semester begins September 1 and runs through December 17.

WHDTA offers a comprehensive dance program with a focus on Classical Ballet Training. Each Ballet Division – Children’s Division (Ages 3-10), Youth Division (Ages 8-15), Pre-Professional Division (Ages 11+) and Teen & Adult Open Classes – allows students to improve and advance at their own rate.

The Ballet Division includes Pre-Ballet, Primary Ballet, Classical Ballet Technique (Level I-IV) Intermediate Advance Ballet and Pre-Pointe, Pointe Preparation and Pointe Classes.

In addition, WHDTA offers 4, 6, 8, 12-week sessions in various Genre Dance – Theatre Dance (Ages 6+), Tap (All Ages), Ballet/Tap Combo (Ages 3-5) Beginning Jazz (ages 8-11), Contemporary Jazz, (Ages 12+) & Intermediate Advanced Lyrical Jazz (Ages 12+).

Small classes allow WHDTA’s highly qualified staff of instructors to assess each student’s progress and recommend classes best suited to their needs for improvement. Classes are taught by Virginia Holte, Founder and Artistic Director, Midori Satoh, Assistant Director and Instructors Jenna Ojeda, Ann Marie Pargett, Juanita Finkenberg, Jacqueline Collier, and Guest Instructor from Maui, Ali Hasert.

Academy Students enrolled in WHDTA’s fall semester of Ballet Classes are eligible to perform with WHDTA and guest performers in the Holiday Classic Ballet “The Nutcracker,” presented at the Kahilu Theatre December 20, 21 & 22, 2016.

Waimea, Waikoloa, Kohala and Honokka dancers ages 3 through adult who wish to participate in the Nutcracker are called to the Mana Christian Ohana in Waimea on September 16 to sign up for the Nutcracker Semester that will take place at Mana Christian Ohana from September 30-December 16.

West Hawaii Dance Theatre and Academy transforms individuals and builds community by providing a comprehensive educational dance and theatre program on the Big Island of Hawaii. A 501 c (3) non-profit organization in continuous service since 1993, WHDTA exceptionally diverse and family-friendly program includes daily classes in multiple dance and theatre disciplines, workshops, outreach programs, performance opportunities, and guest artist residencies. WHDTA fosters creativity, self-esteem, courage, and discipline though individual attention and mentoring, resulting in enriched human spirits and responsible community citizens.
