A whimsical story ballet based on the odyssey of a boy separated from his parents when their sailboat is caught in a storm and Kai washes ashore on a beach on Hawaii Island. Kai quickly makes many new, native friends, who help him navigate an unfamiliar, and sometimes challenging, environment. In the end, lives are forever changed. Choreography by Timor Bourtasenkov. Libretto and story by author Jillian Brady.

Preceding the story of Kai, Act I of our spring performance includes the beautiful 1845 classical ballet “Pas De Quatre” plus original contemporary pieces choreographed by WHDT’s artistic director & instructors. Piano accompaniment by Megumi Kopp.
