Le Corsaire  |   Jungle Book Ballet

Guest Choreographer Timour Bourtasenkov stages TWO ballets with over 70 local and visiting guest professional dancers. West Hawaii Dance Theatre & Academy’s Instructors Jenna Ojeda, Ann Marie Pargett, Alana Heuer-Salazar, Megan Chapman, Assistant Director Midori Satoh, and Artistic Director Virginia Holte are rehearse the cast during weekly classes.

The entire family will enjoy an exotic retelling of Rudyard Kipling’s Jungle Book stories with fanciful costumes, sets and world music. The Jungle Book Ballet follows Mowgli, who was raised by a family of wolves since birth. Mowgli must leave the only home he’s ever known when the fearsome tiger Shere Khan unleashes his mighty roar. Guided by a no-nonsense panther and a free-spirited bear, the young boy meets an array of jungle animals, including a slithery python and a smooth-talking ape. Along the way, Mowgli learns valuable life lessons as his epic journey of self-discovery leads to fun and adventure.

Le Corsaire is a swashbuckling drama of captive maidens, rich sultans, kidnap and rescue, disguise and conspiracy, love and betrayal, culminating in a shipwreck. Our selection includes the Jardin Anime, the beautiful Odalesques, and a rousing dance of swashbuckling pirates.

A silent auction and boutique will be held in the lobby as a fundraiser for the studio.
